Tell Me More…
With their playful, thistle-like, spiky blooms which emerge in June and remain into early autumn, the ‘Jazzy Eryngium Collection’ brings a splash of pizzaz to rockeries, dry gardens and carefully chosen containers. Spiky looking foliage is borne from March to November for extended, gap-filling interest nine months of the year. Colours are cool and striking, whilst plants are drought tolerant once established. Loved by pollinators, especially bees, the ‘Jazzy Eryngium Collection’ comprises; planum with its clump of rounded dark green basal leaves and upright, branched stems carrying deeply-lobed, blue-tinged, spiny leaves and small, blue terminal flowerheads approximately 2.5cm wide – H: 90cm S: 60cm; ‘Magical White Lagoon’ offering a rosette of basal leaves, with cone-like umbels of white flowers sitting within a rosette of spiny silvery-grey bracts – H: 80cm S: 40cm; and ‘Pen Blue’ with branching stems of ovoid or cylindrical heads bearing tiny violet-blue flowers surrounded by a ruff of spiky blue bracts – H&S: 60cm. All prefer well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay and like to be planted in full sun. Hardy, herbaceous perennials which should not need additional winter protection in the UK.
