Tell Me More…
Known also as Ruby Dwarf, the characteristic, shuttlecock-like flower shape of Helenium ‘Rubinzwerg’ are quite unlike any other daisy shaped flower. A compact variety which will still pack a punch with hundreds of blooms in sizzling shades from summer until the autumn, when many other perennials have finished. Nectar-rich, the blooms provide valuable sustenance to bees and butterflies as well as making excellent cut flowers with a long vase life. This versatile and vivacious helenium is dependable and delightful enough to have been given the Award of Garden Merit by the RHS. Surrounded in myth and magic, legend tells that helenium sprang from the ground, watered by the tears of Helen of Troy. What is more, you may hear this plant referred to as ‘Sneezeweed’ because its leaves were once used in snuff! Helenium ‘Rubinzwerg’ prefers moist, well-drained soil of any kind which benefits from full sun. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which does not need additional winter protection
