Plant to naturalise in your borders or large containers amongst spring bulbs, Hellebores, and Forget-me-nots.The name Aquilegia originates from the Latin word for eagle – ‘aquila’ because of the claw like appearance of the petals, more prominent in single cultivars. The spurless, double ‘Barlow’ range of Aquilegia are named after Emma Nora Barlow, the English botanist and geneticist, granddaughter of Charles Darwin, who first bred them.Aquilegia, although delicate in appearance, are deciduous hardy perennials which also make wonderful cut flowers.Plant in a sheltered spot in part sun, part shade in moist, well-drained soil.H&S: 60cm x 30cm
