Growing at a glance…
Ideally, plant your aquilegia in spring. This gives the plants time to establish before growing. Position somewhere sunny or semi-shaded. Plant in spring, digging a generous hole to house the module, adding some grit to the bottom of the hole to aid drainage. Add the module to the hole and fill the edges with soil, firming it down so it’s nice and snug. Water well once planted – although, when they’ve established, they shouldn’t need regular watering (except in a prolonged drought). Deadhead spent flowers to keep the plant nice and neat.
