Not only does Paeonia lactiflora ‘Gardenia’ resemble an oversized gardenia in looks, but it also offers the sweetest scent of all peonies, so shares this outstanding quality too. Flowers are produced from April to May in creamy-white hues which are often blushed with pink and hold a golden crown of stamen in the centre of each flower. Blooms are loose doubles with a relaxed habit, borne on strong stems which are surrounded by attractive green foliage that endures right through to October for gap filling interest. Happy in containers as well as open ground, these pollinator friendly, classically sophisticated wonders arrive as bare roots with 3-5 eyes ready to sprout.
