Sowing Indoors
Level fill a 20cm (8in) container with compost firming with the base of another pot. Water well with a fine rose. Sow 10 seeds evenly spaced into the pot pushing them into the soil 2cm (1in) deep. Leave in a warm room 15-18 degree Celsius (60-65 Fahrenheit). Keep moist.
Growing On
When shoots appear grow coolly and steadily. Minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius (50 Fahrenheit).
Hardening Off/Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before placing container out when temperatures exceed 10 degree Celsius (50 Fahrenheit).
Sowing Outdoors
Seeds can also be sown in a flat bottomed trench in the garden border. Make a shallow 2cm (1in) deep flat bottomed drill 15cm (6in) wide and water it well. Sow about ten seeds per 30cm (12in), spacing them evenly in a zigzag manner. Cover with about 2cm (1in) of soil, and firm it down with the flat edge of a rake. Allow about 60cm (24in) between rows.
Aftercare
Keep well watered, especially in dry spells.
