Adaptable, enduring and easy going open-faced flowersDark, richly coloured flowers which emerge in May and last through to July give this new arrival its other common name, ‘Mourning Widow’. The nodding, purple-brown flowers of Geranium phaeum var. phaeum ‘Samobor’ have flashes of white to their interior and intriguing, pronounced stamen. Flowers are held in multiple clusters on tall, wiry stems above deeply lobed leaves with decorative purple blotches to their centre. Leaves are clump-forming and held from March right through to November – bringing you weed-suppressing, gap-filling carpets. Readily adaptable for a shady spot, plants are ideal for the edges of woodland, and equally happy in a sunny border, as well as rockeries, containers and wildlife garden.
