Berberis thunbergii ‘Chocolate Summer’ has seductively dark purple-brown foliage that covers the red stems. This attractive deciduous shrub has a neat, upright habit that makes it an excellent choice for a low hedge or for creating eye-catching colour contrasts in borders. It blooms in late spring with tiny yellow flowers that pollinating insects adore. Small, orange-red berries follow the flowers, adding to the late-summer appeal. This Barberry is easy to grow because it is hardy and resilient. Plant it in a sunny location to get the best foliage colour. Height: 120cm (48″). Spread: 60cm (24″)
