Cyclamen hederifolium ‘Alba’ is perfect for those hard to grow, shady and unwilling spots of the garden that a lot of other plants just won’t take to. In autumn the dainty white blooms will open up alongside its elegant silvery heart shaped leaves taking form. They possess the ability to self-seed, which will form a beautiful carpet of white ground cover blooms, making them absolutely splendid for a rockery or woodland garden scheme. They will also look very nice packing out a patio pot or container, taking up minimal space. Works well planted in amongst summer perennials, as its foliage dies back in the spring, just as others begin to take shape. Height: 10cm (4”). Spread: 10cm (4”).
Growing Information
Pot up plug plants and grow them on in warm, frost free conditions until plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting out. Grow Cyclamen in a well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter, in partial or dappled shade. Work some organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Cyclamen grow best in the dappled shade of trees and shrubs, which helps avoid excessive summer moisture.
