Lavender ‘Sensational’ really lives up to its name with its massive flower spikes throughout summer and beautiful, compact foliage. An improved version of English Lavender boasting uniquely large, thick flower spikes, measuring 11cm in length and exuding a heavenly perfume. The dark purple flowers are held upon sturdy stems above neat mounds of silver-green foliage to create a vibrant airy display. The stems of Lavender ‘Sensational’ are more rigid and thicker than other varieties making it extremely weather resistant as well as being drought tolerant once established. An excellent addition to the front of sunny borders, patio pots or for growing as a low hedge to line path edges. The fragrant, silvery foliage adds interest and vibrancy throughout the year whilst the flowers provide a treat for all the senses and are attractive to pollinating insects. Growing Information
Grow English lavender plants on free draining soil in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing English lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.
