The earliest rhubarb in existence! Or at least the earliest we’ve found, ‘Thompson’s Terrifically Tasty’ produces tasty stems ready for harvest from as early as March, which is typically a month quicker than any other rhubarb varieties. Tastes great in pies, jams or crumbles, you will be able to enjoy the thick pink-green stalks from March all the way to the middle of summer. Height: 60cm (24″). Spread: 120cm (48″). Estimated time to cropping once planted: 16-20 months. Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months.

Growing Information

Plant rhubarb from autumn to spring in a sunny position in well drained soil. Prepare the soil in advance by digging in plenty of well rotted manure and clearing all weeds. When planting budded pieces from mature rhubarb crowns, set them so that the top of the crown sits 3cm (1″) below soil level and allow a spacing of 75cm (30″) between plants. Alternatively plant them in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes No 3. mixed with plenty of rotted manure.
