Description
Acer campestre is a moderately-sized deciduous tree with rounded, five-lobed deep green leaves. The leaves are often tinted reddish-purple when young and erect umbels of green flowers also form, followed by red winged fruits. The Acer campestre is of particular interest in the autumn when the foliage turns red. This tree can be commonly found as a component in hedgerows where it is kept compact by pruning regularly or grown as a single specimen tree.
