More commonly known as the angelica tree, this plant is a heavenly addition to your garden. This large deciduous shrub can grow up to 8 metres but looks just as stunning when kept small. It has large drooping, heart shaped leaves and ‘Aureovarigata’ is a variegated variety, displaying an attractive pale green centre with irregular golden yellow edges. Sculptural red stems highlight this foliage and give the tree a lovely delicate shape. Small white flowers bloom from late summer to early autumn and are followed by black fruits. This statement ornamental trees looks amazing as a solitary container specimen and can be used to add structure to borders.
This plant is sensitive to light exposure preferring full or partial shade and should be planted in a sheltered area. It is best grown in moist but well-drained loam or sandy soil and can be reactive to acid and alkaline pHs.
