Growing Information
Grow on a very bright, south or east-facing windowsill in free-draining cactus compost.
These plants have very low watering requirements and the timing of watering is critical as strict dormancy periods must be observed. Watering too much or at the wrong time will cause the plant to rot and die.
Water very sparingly during the active growth period from about May until October. Pots should be allowed to dry out between waterings. Cease all watering from October and throughout winter, keeping the plants completely dry.
Commence watering again in late spring only when the old pair of leaves has completely withered away and the new leaves are well developed – this normally occurs around May.
