Brighten up mealtimes with this superb mix of round-shaped beets that comes in a host of colours (including the striking Italian variety Chioggia, with its internal rings of dark pink and white). They’re sweet and flavoursome, particularly if harvested as mouth-watering baby beets. An easy way to add both visual appeal and flavour to all those home-grown salads – and the kids will love them!

Growing Information
For early crops, sow a bolt-resistant variety March-April. For use in summer and autumn, sow suitable varieties from late April to July. Store roots in dry sand, soil, or peat for winter use. (12-16 weeks maturity).
Sowing Information
Sow between March and June. Choose a sunny site and sow thinly into finely rakes, moist, warm soil at a depth of 13mm in rows, leaving 30cm (12″) between further rows. Thin the resulting seedlings to 5-7.5cm (2-3″) between plants. Grows best in soil that has not been manured recently. When harvesting remove the tops by twisting off.
