To keep a ponds water healthy it is fundamental that it contains plants that act as oxygenators. Plants that preform this service will stop the build-up of Algae in the water and make sure there is a clean healthy, natural balance which benefits all the pond inhabitants. One such plant is the Myriophyllum, which not only oxygenates but brings gardening merit to a pond setting.
It has vivid red stems and whirls of bright yellow green feathery leaves. The roots can be planted in up to thirty centimetres of water and the plant will grow in both a sunny and partially shady aspect.
