Iris Little Mary Sunshine is a radiant bearded iris that truly brings a burst of sunshine to your garden. Its bright, golden-yellow standards gradually fade into soft white falls, edged with yellow borders and highlighted by a matching yellow beard. Slightly smaller than some of the larger bearded varieties, Little Mary Sunshine blooms in May and June on mid-height plants, making it a perfect addition to any garden. This cheerful iris creates a striking focal point in sunny borders, and even when not in bloom, its blue-green, sword-shaped foliage adds a bold vertical accent to your landscape. The vibrant flowers are also ideal for adding flair and drama to summer bouquets, making it a fantastic choice for a cut flower garden. Height: 70cm (28in). Spread: 40cm (16in).
Growing Information
A sunny position in well drained soil is ideal for growing iris. Bearded iris prefer an open position where the rhizomes can bake in the summer sun, without being shaded by other plants. These perennials require a very free draining soil, so amend heavy clay soils with plenty of grit and well rotted manure prior to planting. When planting Iris, ensure that the rhizome sits just at the soil surface as they are prone to rot if planted too deeply.
