‘Globemaster’ is a showy Ornamental Onion that blooms from June until August. It produces bundles of dome shaped flowers that are a glossy shade of purple, standing tall upon fresh green stems and mounds of neat green foliage. This RHS AGM variety, is popular for its intense flower power, vibrancy and drama, making fabulous cut flower bouquets and cottage garden staples. It remains happy when planted in direct sunlight and requires little care all year round. It will grow in height to 80cm, along with a spread of 15cm.
Growing Information
Alliums thrive in light sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4″) and a distance of 10cm (4″) apart. A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
