Growing beetroot is easier and quicker with this new monogerm variety. Beetroot ‘Red Shine’ sprouts only one seedling so sowing at the correct spacing is easy and you don’t need to waste time thinning. With a high tolerance to bolting, ‘Red Shine’ also offers a longer sowing schedule. Uniform, globe roots with very smooth skin and strong, short tops. The dark red flesh has a high sugar content so you can be sure of sweet and tender roots. Days to maturity: 108–112 days. Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
Sowing Information
Direct sow beetroot seeds outdoors from March to July in a weed free, sunny position in fertile, light, well drained soil. Sow beetroot seeds thinly in shallow drills at a depth of 3cm (1″) and 30cm (12″) apart. Germination will usually take 12 to 24 days. When large enough to handle, thin out the seedlings within each row to 10cm (4″) apart.
