This striking Delphinium Double Highlander Mix is tall and elegant without being overwhelming. Growing up to 1m in height, the bushy plants produce multiple flower spikes and typically need minimal support when in full bloom. These majestic Highlanders are perfect for the middle or back of herbaceous borders, adding vertical interest and contrast against the rounded forms of other perennials. The flowers of the Highlander series are particularly eye-catching, with their densely doubled petals and unique colour combinations. Each pastel bloom features a delicate white, cream, or lime green center, creating beautiful colour contrasts. Blooming from June to July, Delphinium Double Highlander Mix is well-suited to cottage-style gardens or naturalistic meadow-like settings. The flowers are excellent for cutting, and the dried petals can even be used as confetti. Regular deadheading encourages the production of additional flowering side shoots. Height: 1m (39in), Spread: 50cm (19in).

Growing Information

Plant bareroots at the earliest opportunity following delivery. In the case of Delphiniums, it is best to plant your bareroots up into containers first. After potting up water them sparingly and grow them on in a cool position.

Potting into containers first and planting out at a later date is advisable because Delphiniums are prone to damage by slugs and snails, therefore waiting until they have put out good, strong growth before planting them outside will make them less vulnerable to attack. Immediately after planting, apply slug protection and reapply consistently through the season.

When plants are ready to be planted outside, choose a sunny position in moist, well drained soil and work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Water consistently until plants are well established.
