This compact, deciduous shrub makes the perfect specimen for borders or large containers in spring. Magnolia ‘Sunrise Beauty’ produces large, cream-white, goblet-like blooms which are borne upward-facing on bare branches in April and May. Each dainty bloom has an eye-catching, dark magenta-pink base which bleeds to the outer point of each petal. An enhancement of Magnolia ‘Sunrise’, ‘Sunrise Beauty’ has a more vivid colouring, making it a unique and showy variety for magnolia connoisseurs.Height and spread: 1.8m (6′).
Growing Information
Plant in a sunny or semi shaded position that recieves a minimum of 4-6 hours of sunshine per day and is sheltered from cold winds and hard spring frosts. Suitable for acid soils only that are rich, moist and well-drained. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. Magnolia plants establish quicker when their roots are shaded. Following planting, apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure or garden compost, taking care not to mound it around the stem of the plant. When growing in a patio container use a blend of ericaceous compost mixed with John Innes No. 3.
