Tell Me More…
Exciting new arrival in 2024 which is well-suited to our UK climate and lends itself perfectly to container planting as it will only reach a maximum height and spread of 1.8 metres. These smaller, hardy shrubs mature as well-balanced, multi-branching plants. Foliage is large, deeply lobed, intriguing, and decorous – retained from March to November, it has a presence of its own. Flowers are borne in June and July, after which fruit emerges as pea-like nodules and matures, over long, hot summers, into sweet and juicy fruits ready to harvest in September to October. Ideal for baking into tarts and perfect with creamy cheeses. Ficus carica ‘Little Miss Figgy’ will happily settle in open ground, a raised bed or a vegetable plot. However, it comes into its own on a sunny patio or balcony – enabling those of us with smaller spaces to add a little bit of exotic luxury to our planting. Plant Ficus carica ‘Little Miss Figgy’ in moist, well-drained soil of any type except clay where it will benefit from full su, however dislikes soil with an acid pH. A hardy, fruiting shrub which can tolerate temperatures down to around -15°C without additional winter protection.
