Tell Me More…
A magical, mat-forming plant which is a member of the Bedstraw family, Rubiaceae. Phuopsis stylosa bears clusters of small, spherical, fuzzy blooms from June to August which are held on long strong stems beneath whorls of narrow, bright green, pungent leaves.Phuopsis stylosa is ideal as semi-evergreen groundcover when not in flower. However, you can prolong the flowering window by cutting it back hard after the first flowering. It makes an unusual and exciting addition to rock gardens, slopes, and border edges as well as creating a colourful feature tumbling over raised bed and containers. Plant with aubretia, creeping phlox or creeping thyme for an abundant mix of foliage and blooms. Alternatively, use foliage such as ivy, hostas and heuchera for verdant display.Phuopsis stylosa is a hardy, drought tolerant perennial which prefers well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. Grows to a height of 30cm, with a spread of 60cm.
