Almost seeming to glow, the evergreen foliage of Teucrium fruticans ‘Curacao’ is aromatic, silvery grey and quite a sight to behold.Buzzing with bees and other friendly pollinators, countless large blooms up to 4cm long, with blue veined petals are produced at the end of each twiggy stem from October to February and often longer. The incredible, electric blue hues really stand out against the striking pale foliage. Native to the Mediterranean region, Teucrium fruticans ‘Curacao’ is drought tolerant and loves to be in poor or rocky soil. As blue as the famous liquor and reaching a height and spread when mature of 40-80cm, the abundance of blooms is truly astounding and creates a magnificent centrepiece.Happiest planted in well-drained soil in a sunny spot, Teucrium fruticans ‘Curacao’ is a half-hardy perennial with an RHS rating of H3, so if temperatures dip to -5 C or lower, some protection will be required.
