Blackberries and Tayberries are among the easiest berries to grow in the UK, thriving in a wide range of soil and site conditions. They will even yield a good crop when grown in semi-shade. Height: 2m (6′). Spread: 2.5m (8′). Estimated time to first crop after planting: 16-20 months. Time to reach peak yields: 28-32 months. The collection includes 1 plant of each: Blackberry ‘Loch Ness’ – ideal for smaller gardens, producing firm, glossy black conical fruits on short, upright, thornless canes. Tayberry ‘Buckingham’ – a hybrid of loganberry and black raspberry, yielding large, sweet, aromatic fruits up to 5cm (2″) long. Our 1-year-old plants are container-grown for superior strength and quality, offering you healthier, more robust plants than field-grown alternatives.
Growing Information
Plant berry bushes in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the ground prior to planting. When growing blackberry and tayberry plants, support the stems on a framework of wires stretched between sturdy 1.8m (6′) posts, or trained against a trellis or wall.
