Iris reticulata is a charming dwarf iris, featuring pale blue blooms adorned with a yellow band and white veining, accented by deep blue speckles. These delicate, jewel-like flowers emerge unexpectedly in late winter, brightening the bare soil in February and March. They’re ideal for planting in small troughs, rockeries, or along the edges of borders where their intricate beauty can be admired up close. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 7cm (3in).
Growing Information
Plant Iris reticulata bulbs in late autumn, at a depth of approximately twice their own height. Choose a position in full sun in moist, free draining soil. To create a natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land. Alternatively, plant bulbs in deep containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No. 2 and grow on in a greenhouse or on cool sunny windowsills for an early indoor display.
