Cyclamen are hardy plants that thrive in borders and containers and in full or dappled shade. They may appear to be dainty little flowers, but they’re tough too. A great choice for creating instant impact in your winter garden, cyclamen flower from autumn through to spring, so they’re popular for autumn colour and as spring flowers. Cyclamen coum produce violet-rose flowers, in beautiful contrast to those dark green leaves with their silver patterns.

We’re always looking for ways to grow bright, beaming colours during the winter. Cyclamen are great for adding a splash of eye-catching colour to your beds and borders during autumn and winter, and when spring rolls around they’ll still be blooming as your garden comes back to life. Hardy and tough, they’ll thrive in shady conditions, so they’re brilliant autumn plants.

Growing Information

Grow Cyclamen in a well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter, in partial or dappled shade. Work some organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Cyclamen grow best in the dappled shade of trees and shrubs, which helps avoid excessive summer moisture. When planting Cyclamen make sure the rough side of the tuber with the old stems and roots protruding is facing up and the smoother, rounded side is facing down. Plant the corms at a depth of just 3cm (1″).
