The beautiful daylily Hemerocallis ‘Crimson Pirate’ is well-known for its vivid and brilliant flowers. This species is distinguished by its enormous, ruby-red flowers with a characteristic lighter-coloured, usually yellow or green, throat. The garden is given an exotic touch by the long, narrow petals, which resemble stars. With its mid- to late-summer blooms, ‘Crimson Pirate’ adds a pop of colour to the garden just as many other perennials are beginning to fade. This makes it a wonderful addition for long-lasting visual interest. “Crimson Pirate” is a great option for borders, mixed beds, or as a dramatic focal point in a cottage because it grows to a height of roughly 24 to 30 inches (60 to 76 cm) with a similar spread.
