Rhododendron ‘Cowslip’ is a year-round attractive specimen plant that is dense and bushy with a wonderful rounded form. The bell-shaped blossoms are the palest shade of primrose yellow, with raspberry pink streaks beautifully painted in the centre of each flower. Its dark green, glossy, spherical leaves provide a useful background for later flowering shrubs and perennials. Perfect for forest gardens and acid borders. This is indeed a lovely variety. Height and spread: 120 cm (48″).
Growing Information
Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
