Each variety is drawn from the ‘Ellen’ series of single and double blooms and offers rich, intense colours set against dark and luxurious foliage. Plants are happiest in partial to full shade from where their stunning petals can shine forth to light up the garden commencing in January and lasting through to May time each year.Your ‘Hope-filled Helleborus Collection’ comprises x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Red’ in deep burgundy tones with a zesty corona, x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen White Spotted’ with adorable speckles to the interior of each petal; x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Pink’ with paler pink, mottled petals; x hybridus ‘Double Ellen Spotted’ with mottled and freckled double blooms; and x hybridus ‘Double Ellen Picotee’ with ruffled, dark edged petals along with mottled, freckled interiors. Plant in moist, well-drained, humus rich soil of any kind except sandy. Try and avoid soil with a very acid pH and position in partial to full shade. Fully hardy perennials which are either evergreen or semi-evergreen and reach a height of 35cm with a spread of 35-50cm.
