Tell Me More…
The result of exciting Japanese breeding has given us the flamboyant new Clematis Kokonoe, and she has created quite a stir. Shortlisted for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year in 2019!In shades of rich purple, the first petals open wide forming a large bowl-shaped bloom. More petals unfold until a final flourish of shorter central ones complete the palm-size blooms, covering the climbing foliage from May to October. Clematis Kokonoe is wonderful planted in a pot or a border, ready to climb over walls, fences, up an obelisk, or trellis. Clematis Kokonoe prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade, with the base in shade. Classified as pruning group 3, this is an easy grow climber and good for beginners. Reaching a height in maturity of 2m, Kokonoe is a fully hardy perennial, meaning this clematis will flourish outside all year round for many years; no winter protection required.
