The common oregano, grown for culinary use. Produces aromatic, oval, dark green leaves used in cooking and as seasoning. Small white flowers appear in the summer. Oregano plant leaves can be cut fresh as needed, although it is often thought that the best flavour occurs just before flowering. The leaves can also be dried for year round use. Widely used in Greek and Italian cuisine.
