A woodland native of Japan, Primula japonica ‘Miller’s Crimson’ is a candelabra primula, producing vivid constellations of crimson flowers on stems which rise above the green foliage. Also known as Candelabra Primula, it is easy to see why. Tall, elegant stems carry up to six whorls of bright red flowers in spring and early summer, over tidy rosettes of lush green foliage. Excellent as cut flowers for a vase, the foliage is both deer and rabbit resistant.A unique primula, happy in both borders and containers, which holds the Award of Garden Merit, the ultimate accolade from the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding garden performance. As a woodland plant you will find that Primula japonica ‘Miller’s Crimson’ will grow in shaded and damp spots where other less flamboyant plants would struggle. Much sought after this hardy perennial is a ‘must-have’ for a shaded spot, reaching a height and spread of 45cm.
