Compact and uniform with grass-like foliage, these plants have strong stems topped with globe-shaped red blooms. Very free-flowering, first year blooming, and excellent in rock gardens. Flowers late May-early October. Height 20-30cm (8-12″); spread 20-30cm (8-12″). HP – Hardy perennial.
Growing Information
Prior to sowing, soak the seeds in warm water for 6 to 8 hours. Fill pots or trays with a well-drained compost and sow the seeds on the surface and cover with a light sprinkling of compost at a temperature of 16-18°C (60-70°F). Keep out of direct sunlight and keep moist. Germination normally takes 14 to 28 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into individual 7.5cm (3″) pots and grow on in cooler conditions. When well-grown plant out in a sunny well-drained position spaced 30cm (12”) apart.
