‘Atlas’ is a wonderful male Kiwi, that is an excellent pollinator, but does not bear fruit. It generates masses of white flowers in spring and bundles of striking, heart-shaped green leaflets. Ideal for planting along walls, wires and fences, this hardy perennial will remain easy to care for all year round and sit well in direct sunlight. Its attractive green foliage makes a superb focal point, and its climbing vines will create an ornamental summer display.
Growing Information
Grow kiwi plants in a sunny position in any fertile, well drained soil. A sheltered position is essential as kiwis are particularly sensitive to adverse weather conditions. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole. Plant kiwi vines, firm in and water well. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate support wires strung between sturdy posts, to train as an espalier.
