Daffodil Sagana
Daffodils are a popular choice across UK gardens for many reasons, such as being one of the most cost-effective, pest-free perennial plants there are, and they make beautiful additions to spring bulb arrangements! Daffodils look great when planted with perennials, annuals and other flowering shrubs too, but the Sagana grows with a unique difference to the standard daffodil. It might have the looks of more common varieties like ‘Pheasants Eye’, but this flower grows with much stronger and larger blooms that stand upright and really form a show-stopping display in garden borders and patio pots!
As white as can be petals smother the button like trumpet of vibrant yellow, with a fiery orange rim. A musky fragrance diffuses from the blooms which work perfectly for cut flower arrangements so this bulb really can be enjoyed indoors and out! Sagana is a strong, long-lived bulb that will thrive in sunny, well-drained places and will develop these magnificent flowers in multiples with minimal maintenance. Height: 40cm (16″). Spread: 30cm (12″).
Growing Information
Daffodil and narcissus bulbs are easy to establish in any moist, well drained soil. Plant the bulbs in full sun or semi-shade at a depth of approximately 10cm (4″) and at a distance of 10cm (4″) apart. Narcissus and Daffodils look particularly eye-catching when grown as drifts in borders or informal areas of grass. For a really natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land.
For an attractive indoor display, plant daffodils and narcissus in containers of bulb fibre and position them cool garage or other well ventilated, dark position at a maximum temperature of 10°C (50°F). Water sparingly when necessary to keep the compost moist. When the growing shoots reach a height of 10cm (4″) move the containers to a cool bright position indoors (approximately 16°C or 60°F).
