The Bluebell Creeper is another name for Sollya heterophylla. Its twining stems are cloaked in evergreen foliage throughout the summer. Its twining stems are shrouded in evergreen foliage, which provides a lovely backdrop for its nodding, sky-blue flowers. This partially sturdy climber is ideal for growing in a conservatory and will thrive outside in the UK’s gentlest climates. Cultivate it in patio containers that can be moved into a heated greenhouse during the colder months instead. This creeper is something unique for your garden! Height: 2m (6′, 6″). Spread: 60cm (24″).

Growing Information

The Bluebell Creeper is half hardy and requires a minimum temperature of -5°C (23°F), so it is best grown over an obelisk in a patio container that can be moved indoors for the winter. Alternatively grow it in a warm conservatory or heated greenhouse. Pot up Sollya plants into containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.

In very mild areas, try growing Sollya heterophylla outdoors where it looks superb twining through shrubs or against sheltered walls and fences. Plant in rich fertile, well drained soil in a sheltered position in sun or semi-shade.
