Tell Me More…
Duranta plumieri, commonly known as sky flower or golden dewdrop, is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub that makes a bold statement in any garden. With its glossy, dark green leaves, it creates a lush backdrop, while its striking flowers and vibrant berries offer year-round visual appeal. In summer, Duranta plumieri produces clusters of small, funnel-shaped, violet to lavender-blue flowers that attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, adding life to the garden. After flowering, clusters of small, golden ornamental berries are produced, which enhance the display, but be careful not to ingest them. Reaching heights of up to 3 metres, this shrub is perfect for borders or cascading over containers. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, and needs to be kept above 5°C, making it an excellent choice for tropical or subtropical climates and kept in a conservatory over winter. Duranta plumieri is relatively low maintenance, requiring minimal pruning, and is known for its resilience and ability to withstand coastal conditions.
