Description
The ‘Ashmead’s Kernel’ is regarded as one of the best English dessert apples and it is also one of the oldest at near 300 years old. The deciduous leaves are a rich, dark green colour and contrast beautifully with the scented white flowers which appear in April/ May. The apples have a dark yellow skin and are ready for harvest in mid-October. They have a distinctive pear-like flavour and can be used for cooking or salads.
