Doronicum caucasicum “Little Leo,” as the name suggests, is tidy and compact in comparison to some of its lankier relatives, making it ideal for the front of shaded borders. The heart-shaped foliage complements the plentiful golden-yellow flowers of this sturdy perennial daisy. Leopard’s Bane, as it is commonly known, makes an attractive cut flower and attracts pollinating insects in the garden. Height and spread: 30cm (12″).
Growing Information
Doronicum enjoys a moist, humus rich, well drained soil in partial or dappled shade. In wet soils Doronicum caucasicum may suffer from root rot, particularly during the cold, winter months. Improve wet soils prior to planting by adding plenty of grit and well rotted organic matter.
