Gladiolus murielae is an exquisite flower for the late summer border. Each white, star-shaped flower features a darker burgundy star at its centre, gracefully bowing its head on beautifully arching stems. Several fragrant blooms are carried on each raceme, hovering on tall, slender stems above grassy, grey-green foliage.

Plant this half-hardy bulb in large groups through borders for the most stylish display. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 90cm (35″). Spread: 10cm (4″).

Growing Information

Plant 7.5cm (3″) deep and 15-23cm (6-9″) apart in late April or during May, choosing a warm, sheltered and sunny position. Do not plant out before the soil becomes reasonably warm. To obtain earlier flowers, start in pots under glass and plant out from late May onwards. After flowering as the leaves discolour, lift the corms, dry, and remove remains of the foliage and store in a fairly warm, dry place until replanting time.
