Laurus nobilis, also known as Bay Laurel, is a popular culinary herb. The fragrant leaves can be cultivated and used in stews and soups. It is a fantastic, low-maintenance option for making a focal point in containers and borders. This pair of chic, spiral-stemmed bay trees can instantly add elegance to a doorway. Dense crowns of leathery, dark, evergreen foliage perch atop the spiral stems, providing structure and colour all year. Height: 150cm (59″). Spread: 50cm (20″).
Growing Information
Bay trees are best grown in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes that can be moved to a cold greenhouse or sheltered position during the winter months. In mild areas, plant Bay Laurel trees in the ground in any fertile, well drained soil in a sheltered position in sun or semi-shade. Prior to planting drive a stake into the planting hole to support the tree once it is planted. Plant bay trees at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and use a tree tie to fasten the tree to the stake.
