Sowing Information
Choose a sunny position and sow thinly into a finely raked, warm, moist soil, or in pots in bands approx. 9cm (3 1?2″) wide, covering the seed lightly and firming the soil gently. Thin resulting seedlings if required to around 3cm (1″) apart. Grow on keeping the soil moist. It should be possible to take the first ‘clipping’; with scissors 21-28 days from sowing. Harvest the seedlings some 3cm (1″) above the soil to allow the young plants to produce new leaf growth.
It should be possible to repeat this process 2-3 times, but we recommend a fortnightly sowing to ensure mini salad production throughout the summer. It is important for the best taste to harvest leaves at a young stage.
