Tell Me More…
As featured at Chelsea Flower Show in 2019, Clematis Scented Clem is a climber for all seasons. Covered in sweet lilac blooms starting in late spring and lasting all summer long. These blooms are then followed by an abundance of fluffy seed-heads throughout autumn and winter. The large, pale lavender petals each have a silvery stripe along the centre – creating a subtle watercolour, ombre effect. As the blooms open, a sweet almond scent is released, which is especially noticeable on warm evenings.Perfect for scrambling up a wall, or winding over a garden arch or pergola, Clematis Scented Clem will reach 3m tall. Plant in part shade or full sun, sheltering the base to keep roots cool with a flat rock, tile, or leafy plants.Thrives in moist, well-drained fertile soil. Mulch around the base in winter (avoiding the crown) with garden compost or well-rotted manure.Prune your Clematis back in spring to 20-30cm tall just above a pair of healthy buds, removing dead or damaged stems at the same time.
