Tell Me More…
Calamintha are aromatic herbs, much coveted by both floral and culinary lovers. Commonly known as Calamint, the foliage emits a sweet aroma when crushed and often used to treat a wide range of ailments.Neat, bushy mounds of aromatic green foliage are topped by stems holding clusters of pretty blooms in summer and early autumn. Much loved by bees and butterflies, Calamint is deer and rabbits resistant. Perfect planted near the kitchen for use in marinades to flavour meats, or dry the leaves to be infused for a refreshingly aromatic tea. Happy in both borders and containers, Calamintha is very drought tolerant, preferring well-drained soil in sun. Growing to a height of approximately 45cm and spreading to between 25-60cm, the dense foliage is great as a weed suppressing groundcover and is fully hardy so can be left outside during winter for years to come.
