This compact variety is extremely fast to flower, producing blooms in its first year (just 20-24 weeks after sowing), unlike other varieties which don’t flower until the second year. Foxglove ‘Dottie Mix’ has tidy foliage with tall flower spikes bearing large blooms that are swiftly followed by secondary spikes to create a striking display. The flowers offer a wonderful colour palette of five complimentary colours, all with speckled throats and also includes the unique and much-loved variety ‘Dottie Warm Rose’. Digitalis ‘Dottie Mix’ is much more compact than other varieties and the pelleted seeds make them much easier to sow. Ideal for small sunny borders and patio pots as well as making an excellent addition to cottage gardens.Maximum height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 35cm (14in).

Sowing Information

Sow seed from January to May on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost and place at a temperature of 18-29C (65-85F). Lightly cover the seed with vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-30 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 45-60cm (18-24in) apart. An early sowing will occasionally produce flowers in the same year.
