Tell Me More…
A truly showstopping Clematis – Clematis Rouge Cardinal is cloaked in a profusion of rich carmine blooms from July to September. Velvety petals curve backwards as they open, revealing creamy pollen-rich stamens that are adored by bees.Great for planting in a deep pot, scrambling up a wall, or winding over a garden arch or large obelisk, Clematis Rouge Cardinal reaches an eventual height of 3-4m tall. Plant in full sun and ensure that you shelter the base of this Clematis to keep the roots cool with a flat rock , tile, or leafy plants.Thrives in moist, well-drained fertile soil. Mulch in winter with garden compost or well-rotted manure and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser in spring.Prune back to a pair of healthy buds in early spring, removing any dead or damaged stems at the same time.Looks fabulous with co-ordinating ruby Penstemon, Salvias, or Roses for a rich and arresting summer display.
