Tell Me More…
Perfect for planting at the edge of a pond where the water level is not too deep, Baldellia ranunculoides is commonly known as Lesser Water Plantain.A hardy, herbaceous perennial herb, clumps of long, lance-shaped green leaves are formed, partially submerged to help with oxygenation. A profusion of branched umbels are produced, each holding white to very pale pink, three-petalled blooms with bright yellow centres from May to August. Attractive, spiky, green-brown seedheads appear shortly after flowering for added interest and will scatter seeds. An attractive and dainty water plant that’s perfect as a marginal pond plant and will reach a height and spread of up to 30cm. Happiest in a sunny location, Baldellia ranunculoides has been given an RHS hardiness rating of H4, so will easily withstand winter temperatures down to -10 C.
