- Growing to around 2m tall, these cottage garden classics have sturdy stems covered in frilly, double blooms in a mixture of shades which may include pink, yellow, red, white, peach and burgundy
- Flowers all summer from June right through to September
- Plant in full sun by a wall or fence, or support with canes in a border
- Edible flowers – use them to decorate cakes or add to salads
- Suitable for cut flower arrangements
- Attractive to butterflies and pollinating insects, hollyhocks have been described as flagpoles for the bees
