This dwarf barberry has a lovely neat, rounded habit and is particularly compact. Berberis thunbergii ‘Kobold’ blooms in late spring with small, pale lemon flowers set against dark green foliage. This deciduous Berberis is at its best in late summer, when it produces a profusion of glossy scarlet berries just before the foliage turns brilliant shades of orange. This species, like all Berberis, is dependable and simple to grow. Because of its compact habit, it is well suited to rockeries and the front of borders. Height: 40 cm (16″). Spread: 60cm (24″).
Growing Information
Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged.
